Losing your hair can be a tough thing to go through, and when it happens prematurely, you might not be prepared for going without it for the rest of your life. However, there can be a possible solution for you, and that’s a hair transplant. In Turkey, a hair transplant is a very common procedure, with many people travelling to the country to get it done. But if you’re new to the idea of a hair transplant, you might be wondering how well it actually works. If so, keep reading and discover if all hair transplants are a success…

What Is A Hair Transplant?

First and foremost, let’s discuss what a hair transplant actually is. Normally, a hair transplant involves taking follicles from an area where the hair is thicker on your head and then they’re implanted into the thinned out sections. This can either be done with single follicles or with strips of them. It will depend on which type of transplant that you want as to which surgeon you go to. A transplant that takes the individual follicles is called a follicular unit extraction (FUE) and a transplant that takes sections of your scalp is called a follicular unit transportation (FUT). Both can work well; it’s just how they’re performed that is different.

Recovery Is Crucial

When it comes to the success of a hair transplant, the recovery and aftercare is vital. When you first have your transplant done, you should avoid washing your hair for the recommended time from your surgeon. You also need to keep your scalp protected from the sun and any other potential harmful contaminants like hair products and dye. If you cause any damage to the newly transplanted hairs, they may end up falling out and leaving you just as bald as before. Not only will you have ruined your success rate, but you’ll also have wasted a lot of money! So, make sure that you follow any aftercare advice you get down to the letter. Hopefully, you’ll see much better results in the end, and you can count yourself as one of the successful transplant receivers.

Success Rates

Like any procedure, there are risks that it could go wrong or not work in the way you hope. The problem with measuring the success of a hair transplant, is that the results aren’t immediate, and they can take some time to be apparent. With that being said, between 80% – 90% of people who have a transplant see significant regrowth in 10 – 12 months. However, it can take up to 18 months for some people, it all depends on how fast your hair grows. With such a high percentage rate, it’s easy to see why people assume that their transplant will be successful. But this doesn’t mean that it can’t go wrong if you don’t look after it properly or if you visit a surgeon who isn’t all that skilled. So, if you look after you newly transplanted hairs and you should be in the percentage within a year.

Different Determining Factors

The amount of success you have with your hair transplant can hinder on some differing factors. For example, the type of transplant you choose can really make a difference. This doesn’t mean that one is less effective than the other, but they may give you better results in the long run. Your hair type can also play a role in the success of your transplant. If you have Afro or particularly curly hair, you may need more coverage to replace your lost hair. This means you’ll need more transplants which puts you at greater risk of post-procedure difficulties. It’s important that the surgeon you choose is able to work with your hair type to give you the best possible chance of success. The ability of your surgeon will obviously impact your success rate too. If you only look for the cheapest one available instead of looking for one with the right qualifications, you could end up wasting your time and money. Not to mention any infections or issues you might run into during the procedure itself. You want to ensure that you book your appointment with the best clinic you can find, and you’ll definitely thank yourself for it afterwards.

A hair transplant is one of the most successful hair loss treatments you can get. Unlike natural remedies and supposed “hair-thickening” shampoos, hair transplants are backed up by science and definitely do work. However, there could be times when they don’t, and this could be for a number of reason. Hair type, the skills of the surgeon, and the aftercare will all play a big part in how well your transplant goes. There isn’t a 100% chance of it being successful, but it has a much bigger chance than all the other treatments put together. So, if you’re thinking about getting a hair transplant but aren’t sure of the success rate, you can rest assured that it’s a highly effective procedure. You’ll be well on your way to having your beautiful hair back in no time!
