Are you excited about the holidays? Have you already decorated the tree and bought gifts for your loved ones? If you are wondering what else you can do for the beginning of the next year, consider your own business and do some improvements. All of us, as individuals, make some New Year’s resolutions. Analogously, entrepreneurs should take into account both personal and business aspects of their lives and think about the way to improve their SMB next year. Here are some suggestions in that area you might wish to consider.
Much like most of us start changing from the outside, your business can start this way, too. We tend to change our hair style or get a tattoo, but you could do the equivalent of that to your business’ digital presence. Changing the UI of your website is a good and motivating start. You should think of a theme for all your online accounts, including social media and they should all be in sync. Start by choosing the main colors and a font. After that, you can think of design patterns and themes. Generally, the main rule says that minimalistic is the way to go, especially nowadays. In the end, you will be the one making a decision and have the complete freedom to choose whatever you like. Another useful piece of advice is to add a layer of decorations to your new theme. Add a couple of Santa’s hats on your titles, some Christmass lights and ornaments. Once the holidays are over, you can just take off the decorating layer and keep the new design.
Refactor your content
When you are done with redecorating, it is time to dive into the content of your website. It is likely that it has been a while since you went through the texts, so take your sweet time and go through everything again, thoroughly. If you do like what you read, feel free to keep most of it, or even all of it. However, bear in mind that you should make the text as easier to read as possible. What does that even mean? Visual impression of a text is quite important. People are more likely to read a text that is divided into several smaller paragraphs than that exact same text written as a whole. Use white spaces between each two paragraphs. They are a great way to separate topics and independent parts of one large text. Of course, this kind of structure will demand some dedication on your side. Some text would probably need to be altered or completely removed and some new added. Of course, it will take time, but it will be a great refreshment to your website that is guaranteed to be noticed.
Boost your image quality
In the whole ‘New Year- New Me’ movement, it is only natural to improve on all aspects possible. A particularly important one is concerning images and videos. Our advice is to cast away all media you had so far and make a new batch. Unfortunately, compromise is not an option here. If you decide to take the quality of your media content to the next level, that means everything needs to be replaced with new versions. So, get a good camera or hire a photographer to take all the photos you need. That includes product images, team members, activities your company does and basically any photos you would like people to see on your social media or website. You can use 3d rendering for improving the quality of your images even further. There are also 360 degrees images, augmented reality and many more technology improvements you can use, it is up to you to decide how far you want to go. The important thing to do is to keep up with trends and go just a bit further to be among the first companies who took their business to a higher level. This way, you would be a role model for other businesses while having customers that respect and admire you.
Clarity and consistency
Many people have the need to present things in an unnecessarily complicated manner. They probably think people respond to such presentations since they sound complicated enough for them to conclude that someone smart and successful is talking, regardless of the fact that they cannot understand a thing. Clearly, this is not the way to go. If you notice you are doing something similar in your textual or video content, you have to change it as soon as possible. Perhaps you would be surprised to hear this, but people actually respond better to short and concise statements. There is no need for going into detail if you are talking about the business you do. A user that is getting to know your business will not remember all the details. It is much more likely for that user to get lost in too many facts and end up feeling confused. Instead, if you present just the key points in a simple and clear manner, this new user may become your permanent user. Customers should feel confident when learning about your business. In time, they may wish to learn more, but there should be a separate section and time for something like that.
Last, but no least, try to give your users the most precious gift there is – attention. Your time and investment is what counts. So, make sure to be there for your customers. Take care of that chat bot to be of service outside of office hours, make sure you handle customer service well. Try your best to explain the process of using the services of your business. Be kind and be attentive, people love to be heard and taken care of this.
