Editorial Policy

Last updated: November 4, 2026

The News Mention publishes practical information to help readers understand technology, evaluate tools and make informed decisions. Our coverage includes AI at work, business software, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, privacy and technology policy.

This Editorial Policy explains the standards we apply when selecting topics, researching claims, preparing resources and maintaining published content. It also explains how we distinguish documented information from testing, examples, opinion and commercial material.

1. Our editorial purpose

We aim to answer specific reader questions with clear explanations, useful evidence and practical next steps. Our technology guides primarily serve small-business owners, managers and hands-on administrators, while remaining useful to a wider audience.

We prioritize information that helps readers understand a decision, complete a task or identify an important limitation. We do not promise search rankings, business results, cost savings, security outcomes or regulatory compliance.

2. How we select topics

Topics may come from reader questions, product changes, official announcements, research, search-interest signals and gaps in existing explanations. Search demand can help us understand reader needs, but it does not determine whether a claim is accurate or worth publishing.

We consider whether an article can add a useful explanation, comparison, checklist, worked example or resource. We avoid presenting an old development as breaking news or adding a current year to imply an update that has not occurred.

3. Research and source selection

We seek sources appropriate to the claim. These can include:

  • Official product documentation, release notes and service terms.
  • Government publications, regulatory materials and public datasets.
  • Original research and recognized standards guidance.
  • Company announcements and relevant public filings.
  • Reputable reporting and specialist analysis where they add necessary context.

An official source can establish what an organization states about its own product. It does not automatically establish independent performance, effectiveness or suitability. We identify vendor-authored claims where that distinction matters.

When an important claim is disputed, surprising or consequential, we seek corroboration where available. Several articles repeating the same announcement do not necessarily provide independent confirmation.

4. Fact-checking and uncertainty

We check material facts against the available evidence, including product names, dates, prices, eligibility conditions, quoted statements and numerical calculations. For software instructions, we consider subscription, account type, permissions, platform and configuration differences.

We distinguish confirmed information from allegations, proposals, estimates and predictions. Where sources disagree or documentation is inconsistent, we explain the uncertainty rather than silently selecting the most convenient answer.

We do not invent quotations, credentials, sources, statistics, customer experiences or research findings. If information cannot be verified adequately, we qualify it, omit it or explain the limitation.

5. Product coverage and testing claims

Not every article is based on hands-on testing. Depending on the subject, coverage may rely on documentation, published research, reported experiences or a directly performed test. The article should make its basis clear.

We reserve descriptions such as “tested,” “measured” and “verified in our account” for work actually performed and documented. Where relevant, a test description should identify the product or subscription, environment, date, procedure, result and limitations.

A proposed test procedure is not a completed test. A successful small-scale exercise does not establish performance for every workload, device or account. Screenshots from documentation are not evidence that our team performed the pictured action.

6. Examples, templates and downloadable resources

We use examples and resources to make complex subjects easier to apply. Fictional customers, vendors, scenarios and sample figures should be clearly identified as illustrative.

For spreadsheets and calculators, we explain important assumptions, units and limitations. Where we report that formulas were checked, that statement applies to the checks performed—not every possible input or software version.

Policy templates, questionnaires and checklists are starting points. They require adaptation to the reader’s organization and do not replace professional advice or establish compliance on their own.

7. AI assistance and human responsibility

Our editorial process may include AI-assisted research organization, outlining, drafting, editing or visual creation. Regardless of the tools used, responsibility for publication remains with the people preparing and approving the material.

AI-generated statements and citations require verification against appropriate sources. An AI response is not evidence merely because it sounds confident or includes a plausible reference.

We do not describe AI-assisted material as “AI-free” or claim that an AI detector proves authorship or accuracy. We identify AI-generated imagery where needed to prevent readers from mistaking it for an authentic photograph, screenshot or record of an event.

8. Originality and attribution

We aim to produce independently written explanations rather than reproduce another publication’s wording or structure. We attribute direct quotations, distinctive findings and reporting that materially supports an article.

We respect copyright, licensing and permissions. Images, charts, datasets and other third-party materials should be used with an appropriate permission, license or other lawful basis, with attribution where required.

Original wording does not make an unsupported claim reliable. Accuracy and attribution remain necessary even when an article is independently written.

9. Images, screenshots and visual explanations

Visuals should support the article without misleading readers. Captions and alternative text should describe what an image actually shows, rather than add unsupported product claims or keywords.

We distinguish photographs, screenshots, illustrations and generated images when their origin affects interpretation. Mockups must not be presented as genuine account screenshots or proof of product behavior.

Before publishing account screenshots, we seek to remove personal information, credentials and sensitive business details that are not necessary to the explanation.

10. Commercial relationships and editorial independence

The website may carry advertising, sponsored content or affiliate links. Material commercial relationships should be disclosed clearly with the relevant content. A statement on this policy page does not replace a disclosure needed beside a recommendation or link.

Commercial relationships must not be presented as independent testing or unpaid editorial endorsement. Compensation does not justify fabricated claims, concealed limitations or guarantees of favorable coverage.

Products or services mentioned in an article should be evaluated using criteria relevant to the reader’s task. A paid placement, retained link or affiliate relationship is not evidence of quality or suitability.

11. Authors, contributors and expert input

Bylines identify the credited author or publishing account. We do not treat a byline alone as proof of specialist expertise. Relevant qualifications, direct experience and expert contributions should be described accurately where they support the article.

Contributors should disclose relevant commercial interests and provide sources for material claims. We may edit submissions for accuracy, clarity, relevance, attribution and compliance with our publishing standards.

We do not claim that every article receives independent expert review. Where a specialist review is performed and credited, the description should reflect the actual scope of that review.

12. Updates and corrections

We review content when we identify a material error, receive a credible correction or become aware of a relevant change. Product instructions and time-sensitive information may require more frequent checks than general explanations.

A meaningful update should reflect substantive work. We do not change an article’s date solely to make it appear newer.

Minor spelling or formatting fixes may be made without a separate notice. When a correction materially changes a factual claim, interpretation or recommendation, we aim to add a clear correction or update note. Content that cannot be corrected responsibly may be withdrawn or replaced with an explanation.

13. Reader feedback and correction requests

Readers can report errors, outdated instructions, missing context or attribution concerns by emailing amit@zestfulloutreach.com.

Please include the article URL, the passage concerned, a clear explanation and supporting evidence where available. Do not send passwords, authentication codes or unnecessary sensitive information.

We assess requests on their substance. We do not guarantee publication of every submission or removal of accurate coverage simply because a person or organization disagrees with it.

14. Review of this policy

We may revise this Editorial Policy as our coverage, publishing practices and resources develop. The date at the top identifies the latest published version.
